Welcome to the new school year!

Welcome Back to the 2021-2022 School Year!

We will be back to school on Tuesday, September 7th for Grades 1-7 from 8:30 - 10:31

and for Kindergartens 11:00 -  12:00

Here is some information to help you get started with the year ahead.

NOTE: grade 1 to 7 students will go to the upper field to meet their last year teacher at the morning bell.

First Day:

  • Grade 1 to grade 7 students will return to their last year’s class and will meet their teacher on the upper field upon arrival. The students will see their teacher’s name on a large sign. Students can head to the sign and line-up with their teacher. While most of our teachers are returning to MPCS, we will have some new teachers holding up the signs. The teacher holding the sign will be their teacher for the first week of school.
  • We will do a quick welcome and then drum the students to their classes.
  • Any students that are new to the school come to the library at the morning bell. A staff member will bring the student out to the field to join a group.
  • We are still trying to minimize the amount of traffic on the school grounds, so please drop your child off as close to the bell as possible (8:30am).
  • Students will be dismissed at 10:31 The busses will leave shortly after dismissal.
  • Kindergarten students will began gradual entry on this day. Kindergarten students entry is from 11:00 to 12:00. Students will meet in the gym. Please refer to letter sent August 31
  • If you are picking up your child, please pick up your child and head off school grounds as soon as possible upon dismissal. We understand that some of you have not seen each other in a while, but it is important that we adhere to our protocols to help keep everyone safe.

First Week:

  • Grade 1 to grade 7 students will remain in their classes from last year for the first week of school.
  • Students will arrive to school for the remainder of the week (Wednesday – Friday) at the exterior door of their classroom.
  • We hope to have students in their new classes by Friday, but this may happen the following week on Monday. We will keep you informed as things unfold.
  • A reminder that class placement is a complex and thoughtful process. We cannot guarantee all requests, but we work as a team to make placements that create balanced strength based
  • Please bring water bottles, indoor shoes and dress for the weather each day (more info to come on what specific teachers will want you to bring when classes are made).

 Calendar Change:

  • As many of you may know by now, the government has recently passed legislation to make September 30th a federal statutory holiday called the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We have updated the MPCS calendar to reflect this change.
  • At MPCS we are committed to reflect upon and learn about the Truth of our history and how to move forward in a good way. We will also fly our Canadian flag at half-mast in support of the community and our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation.

Health & Safety Protocols 2021-2022:

  • We are committed to safety at MPCS and will be following these safety measures and protocols to keep everyone safe.
  • If you are looking to speaking to front office staff and administration,  we ask that you do not enter the school through the classroom doors. Please enter the school through the front entrance and see the office window. We recommend calling ahead to make an appointment. Please continue to email or call for general inquiries. If you do need to connect with your child, we ask that you come to the office and we will assist you.
